Rachael Lindsey, Director of Science and Stewardship for the Hill Country Conservancy, talks about the ecological benefits of Ashe juniper (commonly called cedar). While these benefits are not always recognized, Ashe juniper builds nutrient-rich soils, provides shade, and protects seedlings from herbivory, all of which are needed to grow a healthy forest.
