Xiao Yan held Xun Er and Cai Lin by the hands as they slipped into the channel. The energy swelled around them—an overwhelming tide from an unknown realm that set even a Dou Di’s blood and emperor’s source-qi boiling of its own accord.
The five moved through the passage for a very long time, yet no end appeared.
“Xiao Yan-gege, are we there yet?” Xun Er peered into the boundless dark ahead; there was still no horizon, only the dim gleam of spatial currents.
“I think… we’re close,” he answered softly. “I can feel another kind of energy from that unknown world getting thicker and thicker.”
“Hah! Then let’s pick up the pace,” rumbled Zhu Kun of the Taixu Ancient Dragon clan, patting his chest, eyes bright with anticipation. “I’ve stayed on the Dou Qi Continent too long. I want to see how brilliant the outside truly is.”
“I feel the same,” said Gu Yuan, voice calm but charged. “What happened ten thousand years ago—why all the Dou Dis vanished—perhaps the moment we set foot in that world, the riddle will finally loosen its knots.”
Xiao Yan smiled at that. Then his expression shifted, and the five slowed, their speed bleeding away as if the passage itself were easing them toward a threshold.
