Moanalua Valley Trail (legal route to reach Haiku Stairway to Heaven)
It’s technically illegal to step on the stairs. There’s a fine of $1000 if caught. However, you can still reach it through the back way which is much challenging.
A total of 10.5 miles distance with 5,029 ft elevation gain. Depending on your speed, it takes roughly 8 to 10 hours to finish the entire hike.
It usually rains in that area so expect for a muddy terrain. The spikes/crampons are life saving.
The wind can easily picked up so be extra careful especially when you’re in the ridge line.
Pack light, wear windbreaker jacket and bring gloves.
Do your research ahead of time and be prepared.
This is hands down one of the most breathtaking, muddy and extremely dangerous hikes we’ve ever done.
It was worth all the risks!
