Ellet Joseph Waggoner was an Adventist physician, theologian, and editor who played a fundamental role in the theological development of the Seventh-day Adventist Church during the late 19th century. His contribution was particularly significant in presenting the message of justification by faith and in strengthening the Adventist understanding of the centrality of Christ in the Christian experience.
Best known for his leadership role in the revival of "justification by faith" stemming from the 1888 General Conference session, E. J. Waggoner—as a lecturer, author, and editor—exerted a profound, lasting, and at times controversial influence on Adventist theology!
