Hey Guys!! This video is NICU specific! It is about Extreme Prematurity and how to set up for Golden Hour. Golden Hour is an approach taken by most hospitals to improve prematurity patients outcomes with a gestational age of 32 weeks or less. It is important to complete a certain amount of tasks within the first hour of birth for this population.
Successful Golden Hour (completed within the first hour of life):
Labs Drawn (i.e. Blood Culture, CBC)
Central Lines Placed
Chest X-Ray to confirm line placement
Antibiotics administered
Erythromycin & Vitamin K (Eyes & Thighs)
Glucose
IV fluid/dextrose administration
Normalized Temperature
It is crucial to prepare for a Golden Hour admission prior to delivery in order to complete all the assigned tasks within the first hour of life.

Isolette/Radiant Warmer (On at 100%)
Thermal Hat
Plastic Bag
Thermal Mattress
Pulse Oximeter
ECG Leads
Blood Pressure Cuff
Measuring Tape
Thermometer
Diaper
Sterile Water (for Humidity)
Respiratory Supplies (Bag/Mask, Neopuff, Intubation Box)
Oxygen Tanks (Checked and Full)
CO2 Detector
Umbilical Line/Central Line Setup
Suction
Code Sheet (Weight specific)

Golden Hour Team
Golden Hour is important because:
Reduction in Hypothermia
Reduction in Hypoglycemia
Prevention of Intraventricular Hemorrhage
Prevention of Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia
Prevention in Retinopathy of Prematurity
