Rowheath Pavilion is first mentioned in this video and was created for the workers of the Cadbury factory to enjoy. The second half of the video shows the Cadbury factory site and some of the local Bournville village green and shops.

The Cadbury story began in 1824 when John Cadbury opened a shop in Birmingham. He sold coffee, tea, drinking chocolate and cocoa amongst other items. John believed that alcohol was the main cause of poverty and hoped his products would serve as an alternative. Bournville is famous for its CHOCOLATE and the Cadbury family were pioneers in ensuring their workers worked in buildings that were both pleasant and enjoyable. The Cadbury family were devout Quakers and believed that all people should be treated equally.

The true legacy of the Cadbury family is not the chocolate, but the social reforms they put in place. Bournville is still a beautiful place to live. The Cadbury brothers opened an office in London and received a Royal Warrant as manufacturers of chocolate and cocoa to Queen Victoria in 1854.
