Is Ennevelde, the project of B. Kråbøl, the new diamond from the jewelry box of Norwegian black metal? Apparently this good man also plays in Misotheist, a band that also released a record on Terratur Possessions, a sub label of the almighty Ván Records. But before I fillet the music, make some time for the beautiful artwork. All this was conceived by none other than O.A.A. from Kontamination Design, a noble unknown to me, yet very strong.

In any case, the record opens captivatingly and with the necessary, gritty filth. In the first bars it reminds me a bit of a mix of Gorgoroth's work and the atmosphere of the Portuguese Gaerea. However, Eneveld prefers to stay in second or third gear more often and, in other words, keeps it rather slow. In addition, the typical dull wash drum sound on drums is also chosen here. It has its charm and let this be its strong point. The throat of B. Kråbøl is a grunt that grinds nice and deep and thus masks the washing drum sound. Forringelse, the second track, I call a typical Ennevelde song, some waltzes in filth, those chilly and cold guitars, the dirty grunt. If I'm right, you can hear the bass doing its own thing in this song every now and then.

What is striking is that Ennevelde also takes plenty of time to tell his dark message. Songs that all go smoothly over eight minutes. Slower, dragging moments, such as in Irrgangs, make you close your eyes for a moment, as if you are sitting in a rocking chair, in an old damp forest hut, dreaming. The driving rain against the single-glazed windows, the woolen blanket just enough against the lashing wind that blows through the cracks and crevices. And if that's not enough, nature still grabs you. A manifest thunderstorm, ominous sounds descend from the sky and thus deliver the closing Daukjøttet.
