Описание: A Dahabiya is a barge like vessel with 2 lateen sails and carries about 12 passengers.. Up to the 1870's it was the way for tourists to travel up and down the Nile. Today it is an alternative to the luxury River Cruisers with 80 to 100 passengers. The Dahabiya can land any place along the river. So we got to see some places like Gebel el-Silsila, a sandstone quarry that are not possible for the big cruisers. Of course we also visited the sites like Kom Ombo and Edfu that are on the standard cruise itinerary but we did them in the afternoon instead of the morning which is standard for the cruisers. If you're think about a Nile Cruise, I'd highly recommend a Dahabiya.
