In the first days of Ukraine's Kursk operation, dozens of videos have emerged on social media of Russian soldiers surrendering en masse. Many of those soldiers were conscripts — young men going through Russian compulsory military service. The Kyiv Independent got exclusive access to the POWs captured during the Kursk operation and interviewed them about their motivations and experience of fighting for Russia.
