Boroichi is Tokyo's oldest flea market that runs twice a year on 15/16 of December and 15/16 January. It was my first experience with antiques in Japan and something that I try to see every year. The market has a great variety of antiques, pottery, tools, kimono and indigo dyed boro cloth amongst many other things. It is a vibrant friendly place to chat with the locals some of whom have been a part of this tradition all of their lives. Let me take you through the market to get an idea of the kinds of things available. Find out why I think it is such an important piece of Tokyo history that has endured since 1578.
