Rose Pastry Recipe
*Ingredients:*
1 Tbsp Granulated Sugar
1 Packet Instant Yeast
1 Egg
2-3 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
1 Cup Warm Milk (8 fl oz standard cup)
1 tsp Salt
Approx. 4 Cups All-Purpose Flour (measured using a 6.76 fl oz cup, adjust as needed)
*Egg Wash:*
1 Egg Yolk
1 tsp Milk
*Instructions:*
1. Mix sugar, instant yeast, egg, vegetable oil, and warm milk in a mixing bowl until combined.
2. Add salt, then gradually incorporate the flour (starting with about 2 cups). Knead the dough until it is soft and elastic and does not stick to your hands (total flour is about 4 cups, but adjust based on your specific flour quality).
3. Knead the dough for an additional 2-3 minutes, cover the bowl, and let it rise until doubled in size (about 30 minutes, time may vary based on room temperature).
4. Punch down the air from the risen dough and divide it into 9 equal pieces. Form into smooth dough balls and cover. Let them rest for 10 minutes to make them easier to roll out.
5. Roll each ball into a thin circle, slightly larger than a dinner plate.
6. Cut the rolled-out circle into 12 wedges (first into 4 quarters, then each quarter into 3 segments). Arrange the wedges as shown in the video, overlapping slightly, and gently press the edges to shape them into beautiful roses.
7. Place the shaped pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let them proof on the tray for about 20 minutes.
8. Prepare the egg wash by mixing 1 egg yolk with 1 teaspoon of milk. Brush this mixture generously over all the pastries.
9. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) until they are beautifully golden brown and puffed up.
