Michael: Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution Shank.The shank is going to slide into your 2-inch by 2-inch receiver tube hitch. It's going to provide the attachment point for your weight distribution system's head assembly. This is designed to work with the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution Systems. It is a solid steel construction with a nice powder coat finish on it to help resist any rust and corrosion.

So not only is it going to be very strong, it's also going to resist rust and all those things, so it will last you a nice long time.When I say it's strong, it does have a maximum gross trailer weight of 15,000 pounds, so that's how much weight it can pull. It's got a max tongue weight, which is the downward pressure it can withstand, of 1,500 pounds. So it is a very strong shank that's going to do a good job for you. You can see one of the defining features here is it has nine adjustment holes for your head assembly to attach to. This is going to allow you to adjust your head assembly to have a level connection with your trailer.

When you're towing a trailer, it is very important to have everything as level as possible. Make sure it's all going to arrive correctly.So with this, you're going to have a total height of about 12 5/8 of an inch. Get out my ruler here so you can see that for yourself. So just over 12 inches in total height. These holes are spaced from center to center at right about 1 of an inch apart.

So when we have it in the rise position, like I have it here, it's going to give us a maximum rise of 10 inches. So that is where our head assembly, the top of the ball platform, and we're going down to the inside top edge of our hitch receiver tube, we're going to have a total distance of about 10 inches. This can also be used in the drop position. If your trailer sits a little bit lower, again, from the inside top edge of our hitch receiver tube, down to where our head assembly is going to be, you're going to have a distance of about 4 inches. So a lot of adjustability there to make sure that your trailer is riding level.Our overall links little bit longer than my ruler, so get out the tape measure here.

So from the backside of the shank up to the very front, you can see it's right about 13 inches. From the center of our hitch pin hole, up to the front of our hitch or our weight distribution shake, it's going to be 10 inches. From the center of our hitch pin hole to the center of our weight distribution shank hole is right about, I'm going to say, of 9 inches. And then to the back here, looking at right about 8 inches to the back of this upright post. Now one of the more important measurements for you is going to be from the center of our hitch pin hole to this back of the brace here. That's how far you're going to have for your hitch receiver tube. It's right about 4 inches. So you'll have about 4 inches of clearance there to make sure that that's going to work with your hitch receiver tube.
