Jodhpur
Construction: Built in 1872 by Maharaja Pratap Singh, it was an ambitious project to provide water for Jodhpur.
Sacrificed Lands: To create the lake, existing palaces and gardens built by earlier rulers like Bhim Singh and Takhat Singh were submerged.
Water Source: It's fed by the Hathi Nehar (Elephant Canal), connecting to the Indira Gandhi Canal system, making it crucial for the city's supply.
British Era: During the British Raj, it also served as a military base with associated structures.
Name Origin: A part of the lake is also known as Takhat Sagar, named after Maharaja Takhat Singh.
