Best Time to Visit Harshil :- Summer is considered as the ideal season to visit Harsil. During this time the weather is moderate and the beauty of the town remains at its peak. However, the village always remains in danger of landslides during the monsoon. The winters experienced here are a bit cold and are perfect for adventure lovers seeking to get some adrenaline rush.

हरसिल के आसपास कभी कुल 240 शिव मंदिर हुआ करते थे पर सबके सब समय के साथ गायब हो गए। यह बात केदारखंड में भी लिखी हुई है। लेकिन 40 साल पहले इसकी सत्यता की जांच के लिए प्रयास शुरू हुए और गंगा नदी के नीचे सचमुच एक मंदिर के होने की पुष्टि हुई और खुदाई में एक बहुत बड़ा शिवमंदिर निकला जो वास्तव में कल्पकेदार के 240 मंदिरों के समूह का ही हिस्सा है।

स्थानीय लोग कहते हैं कि बाकि के मंदिर भी नीचे दबे हुए हैं लेकिन इस बात का कोई प्रमाण नहीं हैं। हां, तीन मंदिर के होने की पुष्टि 1869 में गंगा-गौमुख क्षेत्र के भ्रमण पर निकले ब्रिटिश फोटोग्राफर सैमुअल ब्राउन द्वारा लिए गए फोटोग्राफ भी करते हैं। इस फोटो में कल्पकेदार के मौजूदा मंदिर के साथ दो अन्य मंदिर भी दिखाई देते हैं। यह तस्वीर आज भी पुरातत्व विभाग के पास संरक्षित है, स्थानीय ग्रामीणों के घरों, प्रतिष्ठानों में भी इस तस्वीर की प्रतिलिपि दिखाई देती है।
