Learn to pronounce WOULD and WOULDN’T with American intonation! Learn to relax your pronunciation, and you will SOUND NATURAL when you speak. Practice with American rhythm and intonation, and your English will FLOW BETTER.
The words “would'' and “wouldn’t” are essential modal verbs. You need them for polite requests, for offering help, and for talking about the hypothetical (the conditional in English grammar)--among many other uses.
For clear, confident communication, you must master “would” and “wouldn’t.” The good news is that they are actually much EASIER TO SAY than they look! Learn how to pronounce them ALONE, then practice their TRUE, reduced pronunciation IN CONTEXT--inside a sentence.
With the simple, rhythmic PRACTICE I give you, you will internalize the grammar, pronunciation, intonation, and rhythm of American English--ALL AT ONCE.
I have tips for Spanish speakers, Koreans, and English learners from all over the world. The words “would” and “wood” sound exactly the same. But the “would” should NOT sound like “good.” The word “wouldn’t” does not sound like “wooden” - but the only difference is the glottal stop. Do not pronounce “w” like a “v,” and Koreans please remember to pronounce the “w.”
