Fried modaka is a crispy Ganesh Chaturthi sweet made by stuffing coconut–jaggery filling in wheat/maida dough, shaping into modaks, and deep-frying until golden.
Fried Modaka (Recipe)
1. Filling: Cook grated coconut + jaggery till thick, add cardamom & nuts. Cool.
2. Dough: Mix wheat/maida + ghee + salt, add water, knead, rest 15 mins.
3. Shape: Roll small puris, add filling, pinch into modak shape.
4. Fry: Deep-fry on medium heat till golden.
✨ Tips:
Fry on medium heat; too high and they’ll brown without cooking inside.
You can use wheat flour for a healthier version or mix wheat and maida for balance.
They store well for 3–4 days in an airtight container.
