When engineers design aircraft to meet new challenges, they have to learn from past designs and create innovative solutions. Learn from Boeing engineer David how he was inspired to design the V22 Osprey tiltrotor to take advantage of both helicopter and airplane capabilities, including the ability to take off and land without a runway like a helicopter and travel long distances at high speeds like an airplane.

Engineer a propeller that can spin as fast and as long as possible using stored potential energy.
Difficulty Level: 1
This is the difficulty level for a typical 4th grade classroom. Modify as needed for other age groups.
This design challenge requires simple motor skills, understanding of straightforward concepts, or common materials to build.
