Описание: Weather update (February 4, 5 p.m.): At 4 p.m., the tropical depression was located 655 km east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. It packs winds of 55 kph with gusts up to 70 kph and is moving westward at 15 kph.

The following areas are under wind signal no. 1:

Southern Eastern Samar
Southern Samar
Central and southern Leyte
Southern Leyte
Dinagat Islands
Surigao del Norte
Surigao del Sur
Agusan del Norte
Agusan del Sur
Camiguin
Eastern Misamis Oriental
Northern Davao Oriental

Basyang is forecast to intensify into a tropical storm today. It may make its first landfall over Caraga between late Thursday and early Friday.

It may weaken into a tropical depression after crossing northeastern Mindanao.

Basyang will traverse Central and Western Visayas before emerging over the Sulu Sea on Saturday morning.

It will pass northern Palawan Saturday afternoon or evening and will be over the West Philippine Sea by early Sunday, where it may weaken further into a low pressure area.

Basyang will bring significant rainfall over Mindanao, Visayas, and Southern Luzon through the weekend.

Heavy to intense rains are expected in Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Southern Leyte, Bohol, Siquijor, Aklan, and Antique.

Widespread and serious flooding and landslides are likely in many areas.
