I have revisited a handful of songs I wrote decades ago, many of which needed a complete lyric rewrite. Most of my old lyrics were just rubbish. For this one, the original emo-boy lyrics came before the tune, which was heavily inspired by John Lennon's "Imagine" album I was listening to in heavy rotation at the time. I always liked the tune, but the original lyrics had to go.

There have been many songs written about Superman or from the point of view of the Man of Steel, and this is my attempt. What would make the most powerful man on earth feel powerless and give up on the planet entirely? The lyrics are as political (or as polarizing) as I intend to get.
