Screening potential clients is easier than you think.
It’s simple, you charge for it!
That’s right! Schedule 15-minute time slots for screening new clients and charge a $25.00 fee for it.
This will eliminate future clients that will…
stand you up,
bring your dogs in deplorable condition,
It will expose dogs with behavior issues that could put you and the dog in danger.
But Most of all…
This 15-minute screening session with you and the dog will show you if the client is committed.
and it will give you a real-life moment with the dog to determine if the possibility of a working relationship can be achieved.
And don’t forget…you are also getting paid for this session and you deserve it!
Find me a plumber that will troubleshoot your water leak for free…
Or a vet that will not charge you for a follow-up appointment,
And if they don’t charge you, it was already priced into the initial treatment.
You are a service provider too, and you need to get paid for your skills and expertise.
There is not an abundance of pet groomers so
know your worth and
CHARGE FOR IT!

During your screening session, you may determine the dog is not healthy enough to endure the grooming required to meet its needs of the dog.
This means you can comprise a plan with the owner that is customized for their pet.
Such as 3 grooming sessions in a 6-week time frame that are shorter in time and lower in cost… but will encompass the needs of the dog just the same.
You are the professional and you have to lead your clients to make better decisions for their pets.
But first, let me explain a few situations in which I would refuse to serve a client… and then I will show you how to structure your potential client screening sessions.
