STORYLINE:
Thousands of Yemenis in the Houthi rebel-controlled capital of Sanaa demonstrated on Friday in a show of solidarity with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

The rally came as Israel’s weeklong cease-fire with Hamas expired and their war resumed in full force.

Yemen's Houthi rebels have claimed to have carried out multiple missile attacks against Israel during the conflict, which since its beginning after the Oct. 7 incursion by Hamas on southern Israel has threatened to expand across the Middle East.

Israel and Hamas traded blame for ending the truce, but Qatar’s Foreign Ministry singled out Israel’s role in the resumption of fighting, saying it “complicates mediation efforts and exacerbates the humanitarian catastrophe.”
