In Episode 6 of our interview series, professor of psychology at UCLA Carrie Bearden, PhD describes her work in the ENIGMA Consortium. Dr. Bearden runs a lab and the ENIGMA group that studies 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome, a condition that affects genes involved in neurodevelopment and the brain abnormalities involved in this genetic mutation. They study the syndrome on a cortical and subcortical level with structural and diffusion imaging data.
