City of Ovruch was first mentioned in 977 year in ancient historical annals. The town is situated on the Norin River - it is a tributary of the Uzh River, belongs to the Prypiat River basin.
On the low green hills of Ovruch, two ancient Christian churches are visible.
One of them is the St Basil's Cathedral. It is a functioning Orthodox church in Ovruch, one of the oldest temples in Ukraine. It is more than 1000 years old.
