Characteristic Mach Number

Описание: The characteristic Mach number is the Mach number based on my current velocity but using the speed of sound I would encounter if I isentropically accelerated or decelerated to M=1. This is currently just a tool for us to derive the equations that tell how our flow properties change across a shock wave. However, in later chapters we will reuse this tool to figure out the properties before and after the flow goes sonic at the throat of a converging diverging nozzle.
