Decca F.1986 (GB.1800). Recorded 1930. Band and Trumpeters of the Life Guards, conducted by Lieutenant Director of Music William Gibson.
The record label does not identify the music, and I was initially mystified by the trumpeting at the commencement of the recording. Upon consulting my copy of "Trumpet & Bugle Sounds for the Army" - (1927) - it can be identified as "Flourish when marching past (for mounted parade only)". It is followed by "The first Life Guards Slow March" attributed to The Duchess of Kent (Queen Victoria's mother), and followed by "Men of Harlech", the slow march of the Second Life Guards.
"The Royal Horse Guards Slow March" follows, also attributed to the Duchess of Kent", and then comes the Trot and Canter - neither tune unique to the Household Cavalry, and used by most cavalry regiments.
