We have come a long way already before starting the series as we have had so many bumps in the road since buying Angel at 10 months old. It was a beautiful day. Still and calm. No wind, no rain, no flies, nothing... The perfect day to have a very first ride on the spotted devil. I was apprehensive, my assistant even more so but we were never going to get a better opportunity so we tacked up and gave it a go. Pretty sure mum tried to talk me out of it but there we go. Spotted Devil was good on the yard. She was alone with no haynet and didn't cause any drama which was an excellent start. After some faffing with her boots which she had clearly outgrown we ended up putting Spicy's boots on her with some shims in. I started off mounting in the yard and then attempting to leave the yard which proved unsuccessful. Her friends were down the road and we wanted to proceed up the road. We had a think and decided to mount in the lane. Success! I mounted several times in the lane and walked a few hundred yards and back each time. 2 cars appeared behind us and although she seemed unfazed I decided to get off and hold her while they passed as it was our very first ride. All in all a really successful day. #appaloosahorse #spotteddevil #horsetraining
