WBSC Women's Softball Highlights: 2018 World Championship Italy v Venezuela

Описание: In a must-win match-up every play counts. Venezuela and Italy were taking no chances as they battled for the opportunity to remain in the World Championship tournament.

Each team replaced their starter before the third inning was complete. Italy's hurler threw just 22 pitches before being replaced after loading them up and walking in a run. Venezuela's pitcher was 49 pitches deep, just 5 batters in, before being iced.

On the offensive side of things Italy's Erika Piancastelli had herself a day with a run off three hits, including two doubles. Venezuela's defense held her to the paths though after her overconfidence on the bags cost her team an out.

CF Laura Vigna had herself a day on the diamond. In addition to a run and an RBI at the plate, she threw an absolute missile from center to the heart of the plate in time to keep Venezuela from scoring, while putting a swift end to the only inning in which they were a real threat after the pitching change.
