Romanian braised pork with smoked bacon and sausage | Gustomondo
This dish is traditionally served in the cold winter months. Fresh meat and smoked meats (streaky large bacon lardons and smoked sausage), onion and garlic, flavoured with bay leaves, all cook in the same pot.
Most of the time just water is added to make the sauce, but white wine and beer (like in this recipe) can also give the dish a great flavour.
Served usually with polenta and accompanied by pickled vegetables, this is almost always preceded by a glass of plum brandy and followed on with a couple of glasses of wine.
