Navarathri Golu 2016 - theme mythology by numbers

Описание: This year our 11- step Golu Theme was Mythology by Numbers – Each padi represented a number and its significance in our mythology.
Step 0 – OM to represent the omnipresence of God (along with the traditional kalasam)
Step 1 – Ardhanareshwara to show man and woman are basically one and ShankaraNarayana to depict Shiva and Vishnu are one.
Step 2 – God-Goddesses couples – Perumal Thayar, Shiva Parvathy, Panduranga rukumayi and the marapachi doll couple
Step 3- Trinities – Brahma/Vishnu/Shiva, Durga/Lakshmi/Saraswathi, Meenakshi/Kamakshi/Visaalakshi and Musical Trinity- Thyagarajar/Deekshithar/SyamaShastrigal
Step 4 – The 4 Saivaite saints and 4 Ashrams or stages of life – Brahmacharya/Grihastashrama/Vaanaprastha/Sanyasa
Step 5 – Panchabootha Stalams or Shiva temple depicting the 5 elements - Earth/Water/Air/Fire/Sky with the stories for each temple
Step 6 – Arupadai Veedu of Lord Mururga
Step 7 – Sapthamatrika or SapthaKanniyar
Step 8 – AshtaLakshmi Devis
Step 9 – The 9 Devis of Navarathri –one for each Navarathri day.
Step 10- Dasavathaarams of Lord Vishnu

Each step displayed the stories associated with the Mythology.
For example in step-5 ,we had panchaboothastalam and depicted the story behind each temple:
For Kalahasthy, we have the Kannappanayanaar story with the suspended lamp that keep flickering in the Garbagriham even though there is no air movement inside.
For Thiruvaanaikaval( water), we have the story of the elephant and spider and so on
we also had detailed description of each padi and its significance portrayed on the sides.


The Mall and town on the side
The Mall has 3 departments – The Jewelry and Clothing department has detailed handmade miniature jewelry sets and clothes.. The town itself has legos and other toys created by the kids.
My son also created a fun quiz for other kids to participate in to help them learn more about the Dolls/stories depicted in our Golu.
