☀️ In this adventure, we dive into the fascinating changes happening underwater as the shallow waters warm up and spring transitions toward summer.

🐙 The rise in temperature triggers a ripple effect on marine life: small octopuses become highly active around rocky areas for feeding and breeding, while females lay and fiercely guard their eggs.

🐟 Fish behavior shifts noticeably too. Large schools have already left the shallows, leaving only a few cautious fish behind. But patience pays off with a quick, powerful shot that lands my first grey mullet of the day. Since seabass and mullets keep their distance, I take a colorful green wrasse before moving on. I also pick up some plastic pollution to help keep the sea cleaner while I’m out there.

🔱 The next day, I team up with my buddy Stelios to explore one of his favorite deeper spots. We take turns diving, surrounded by schools of small fish. However, dense filamentous algae covering the seabed makes hunting dentex tricky, as prey can easily hide.

🎯 We change plans and try to catch what we can: we land a couple of parrotfish, then move to the shallows to ambush grey mullets. Before the sun sets, our stringer is filled with tasty fish.

🌊 This season feels like a time of regeneration for the sea, reshaping fish behavior and reminding us that sometimes it’s about more than just the catch: it’s about respecting the balance of life beneath the surface.
