State border issues remain 'as families suffer and people hurt'

At Friday’s National Cabinet meeting, the border debate was discussed as the issue continues to be a contentious topic between residents and political leaders.

Mr Kenny said Prime Minister Scott Morrison wants more certainty on the issue but premiers can still “do as they please”.

“For now, we have to rely on premiers in other states to tell us when and if we can cross their borders.

“Let's hope we work this out, permanently, for the next crisis.”
