Chapter 6 - Phraseography, Phrases, Grammalogues (Introduction) (Pitman Shorthand Video-68)

Описание: Phraseography is the writing of two or more words together without lifting the pen or pencil, the resulting outline being called a phraseogram. This is Most Important topic. The practice of phrase writing will increase the writer's speed and fluency.

The following points must be carefully noted -
a. Awkward joinings must be avoided.
b. The first word-form in a phraseogram must occupy its own position. A first position word-form may, however, be raised or lowered to permit the following stroke being written above, on or through the line.

The word 'the' may be expressed by a light slanting tick joined to a preceding character and written either downward (from right to left) or upward (from left to right). The tick for 'the' is never used initially.

In this video, we are using some more grammalogues (representation of frequently occurring words by a single sign) e.g thank-ed, think, though, them, was, whose, shall, wish, with, when, what, would, O, oh, owe, he etc. The sign for a grammalogue is called a logogram.

Always practice Pitman Shorthand with pencil and make the thin strokes, light vowel signs LIGHT and thick strokes, dark vowel signs DARK.

Pitman Shorthand language increases the speed, fluency in writing. We write English words in shorthand with the help of signs, symbols, strokes and also long/frequently occurring words by a single sign. It saves the space and our precious time.
