This journey takes you east to west from the M90 to the M80 at Castlecary Interchange, using quieter local roads that help avoid the usual traffic rush. Along the way you’ll see some fascinating sights and experience everyday Falkirk life from behind the wheel.

🚘 Route Overview:
• Starting near the amazing Kelpies — the huge horse-head sculptures visible from the M90. The Kelpies stand about 30 m (100 ft) tall and are the largest equine sculptures in the world, created by artist Andy Scott and inspired by Scottish folklore and the working horses that powered industry and canals in past centuries.

• West along the A803 to the end of Callendar Park, then onto Westburn Avenue and the B816 road.
• A brief detour from Tamfourhill Road to visit the incredible Falkirk Wheel — the world’s only rotating boat lift. This modern engineering marvel lifts boats between the Forth & Clyde Canal and the Union Canal in just a few minutes, replacing the old flight of locks that once took hours to navigate.
