Dual Stage supercharging ruled the skies in World War Two. After the war it dominated in the first two years of Formula One racing before being essentially outlawed. In this video I'll explain why it was used and how it works. This allows even old Roots type superchargers to run at 30 or even 40+ pounds of boost and to do it with reasonable efficiency.
