KICKED OUT BY HER HUSBAND, SHE SLEPT OUTSIDE WITH NEWBORN TRIPLETS — UNTIL A BILLIONAIRE CHANGED HER LIFE.
She was a wife three days ago. Tonight, she sleeps on concrete outside a closed storefront, her newborn triplets crying against her chest—until headlights slow in the rain, and a man in an expensive suit steps out to ask a question that changes everything.
A Black woman cast out with three newborns is forced to sleep outside at night, abandoned by the man who vowed to protect her—until a billionaire notices her sheltering her babies from the rain and changes her fate forever.
The rain came down in cold, relentless sheets.
Angelina pressed her back against the metal shutter of a closed electronics shop, her body curled into a tight crescent around the three small bundles in her arms. The cardboard beneath her was already soaked through, the chill of the pavement seeping into her bones. Her hospital gown—still the same one she'd worn four days ago when she gave birth—clung to her skin, damp and threadbare.
She didn't cry anymore. There were no tears left.
One of the babies whimpered softly, a thin, fragile sound that tore through her chest. She adjusted her arms, pulling them closer, tucking the thin hospital blankets more securely around their tiny bodies. They were so small. Too small. Born two weeks early, underweight, and now exposed to the cold because the man who vowed to protect them had thrown her out like garbage.
"They are not mine."
His voice still echoed in her ears. Cold. Final. Disgusted.
Caspian Mathews. Her husband. The man who'd stood in a church two years ago and promised to love her in sickness and in health. The man who'd looked at their newborn daughters—flesh of his flesh—and called them a mistake. A disgrace. An embarrassment to his legacy.
The man who'd turned his back on his own children because admitting they were his didn't fit the perfect image he wanted the world to see.
The street was quiet now, save for the hiss of rain on asphalt and the distant hum of a car engine somewhere in the city. It was nearly midnight. The few people who had passed by earlier—hurried office workers, a woman with shopping bags, a security guard locking up a boutique—had all looked away. Some pretended not to see her. Others stared for a moment, their faces twisted in pity or judgment, before moving on.
Angelina didn't blame them.
She probably looked like someone beyond help. A cautionary tale. A woman who'd made terrible choices and now had to live with them. They didn't know the truth. They didn't know that just one week ago, she'd been Mrs. Caspian Mathews, wife of a wealthy real estate developer, living in a gated estate in Lekki with housekeepers and drivers and everything she thought she needed.
They didn't know that love could turn to poison that fast.
They didn't know that a man could look at his own wife—weak, bleeding, holding their newborns—and say, "Get out of my house."
