Former Labour adviser James Schneider says the British Museum has a “huge opportunity” to show leadership on the Parthenon Marbles debate following renewed calls from Greece to return the artifacts.
It follows a series of thefts at the British Museum where antiquities worth millions were found to be missing, stolen or damaged.
“They should do an audit of what it has, it should publish that, it should reach out to everyone who is involved, and it should put in its permanent collection how it got everything so that we know when we go,” Mr Schneider said.
