Silent Night for VMT (Virginia Museum of Transportation)

Описание: This is a special version I've produced of the famous sound recording of Class J steam locomotive No.602 pulling a passenger train into Rural Retreat, Virginia on Christmas Eve 1957 at 9:30pm by world famous night photographer Mr. O. Winston Link. In October of 1994, Class J No. 611 pulled a passenger train through Rural Retreat. I captured on video the footage of that evening with the 611. In this presentation, I have combined the old sound recording that Mr. Link made in 1957 and with that of the video footage I recorded in 1994. Both have been matched up to run together in real time. You will hear both the steam boat whistles of engines 602 and 611. Through the entire event you hear the continous playing of the nearby church chimes as operated by Mrs. Dodson. I have submitted this video as a gift to the Virginia Museum of Transportation and to acknowledge the Fire Up 611 campaign. I do not own the audio of Mr. Link's recording and his photographs. They are property of the O. Winston Link Museum. This program also pays tribute to the volunteer staff of the Roanoke Chapter National Railway Historical Society of which I once served as Vice President and still a member.
