Описание: From 1594, the #Prinsenhof became the residence of the cityholders: the princes of #Nassau. The #Prinsentuin was created especially for them in 1626 with a rose garden, herb garden and beautiful berceaus (tree-overgrown path).

It is one of the purest examples of a #Renaissance garden in the #Netherlands. The Prinsentuin is completely walled. Partly for this reason, it is an oasis of #peace, in the middle of the busy #city center of Groningen. The Zonnewijzerpoort provides access to the garden from the Turfsingel. Above the sundial is a #Latin text: Tempus Præteritum Nihil Futurum Incertum. Praesens Instabile Cave Ne Perdas Hoc Tuum. This can be translated as The past time is nothing, the future uncertain, the present shaky. Don't waste yours. The Poets in the Prinsentuin festival is organized annually in the Prinsentuin. The tearoom in the garden is also open when the weather is nice.
