The MP-UBC Center advances the frontiers of sample synthesis, experimental technology, and theoretical analysis in a synergistic manner. The goal is to achieve deep understanding of interplay between different quantum phenomena and move towards their control and design. The center forms a strong partnership between well-funded institutions to explore these perspectives. Max Planck Society is Germany's top institution for fundamental research; seven MPIs, in different regions of Germany, are involved. UBC is Canada's top university in this research field; two UBC departments are participating. An extraordinarily wide range of complementary expertise and research facilities are available - bringing novel opportunities for scientists at all levels.
