Trump wins the trade war round! After a heated standoff, Canada has officially dropped its proposed 3% digital services tax on US tech giants like Apple, Google, Amazon, and Meta. This surprise reversal came after Donald Trump threatened to block all trade negotiations with Canada.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Canadian PM Mark Carney "caved" to pressure and that Trump’s strong stance protected American businesses and workers.

The tax, set to start this week, would have hit US tech revenue streams and sparked tensions in the already-delicate trade talks.

After a direct call between Trump and Carney, the tax plan was rescinded, and trade talks have resumed, aiming for a final deal by 21 July.
