Today we’re out exploring Wayne National Forest and taking a look at what’s happening at Lake Vesuvius, one of southern Ohio’s most popular recreation spots.

If you’ve visited lately, you’ve probably noticed the lake looks very different.
The water levels have dropped dramatically — not just from the drought, but due to an ongoing dam maintenance issue. The U.S. Forest Service had to open the gate valve for inspection back in August, and when they tried to close it, it jammed. Now, the lake’s been lowered by about 31 feet to allow for repairs.

In this video, we’ll explore:
