In a key development, Karachi’s industrial zones are poised for large-scale upgrades following a strategic meeting chaired by Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab. The discussion focused on multi-billion rupee development schemes aimed at improving infrastructure and boosting industrial productivity across the city.

According to officials, several major industrial areas—including SITE Super Highway, Korangi Industrial Area (KITE), FB Area, Landhi Industrial Area, North Karachi, and Bin Qasim Industrial Zone—were reviewed for funding allocations. Proposed projects include Rs600 million for SITE Super Highway, Rs2 billion for KITE, Rs859 million for FB Area, Rs2 billion for Landhi, Rs1 billion for North Karachi, and Rs621 million for Bin Qasim.

The meeting was attended by Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi, industrial association representatives, and senior officials. Detailed briefings were presented on infrastructure challenges and development priorities.

Mayor Wahab emphasized that the revival of industrial zones is a top priority, with projects to be completed on a fast-track basis under public-private partnership models. He also directed authorities to ensure timely release of funds and urged stakeholders to provide clear timelines for project completion.

These initiatives are expected to significantly improve infrastructure, enhance business activity, and strengthen Karachi’s position as Pakistan’s economic hub.
