SESSION #14 TOKYO Night Jazz

Tokyo Night Jazz is a sonic walk through spaces, pauses, and precise gestures. Streets, bridges, and districts become rhythm, while silence shapes the music as much as sound. This session breathes with the city rather than describing it.

This session explores minimal contemporary jazz filtered through implicit Japanese aesthetics. Short motifs, open harmonies, and steady organic pulses create a calm yet alert focus state. The band performs with extreme control: subtly prepared piano, airy soprano sax and flute, clean electric guitar, soft double bass, and minimal brush percussion. Tradition is present as texture, not quotation.

ABOUT MIDNIGHT BIRDS JAZZ BAND

Midnight Birds Jazz Band transforms travel into sound, creating jazz sessions shaped by cities, cultures, and late-night atmospheres. Each release blends contemporary jazz with regional accents, strong groove, and expressive improvisation, designed to accompany focus, work, and reflective moments without losing musical depth. Every session works as a sonic postcard, capturing the rhythm, texture, and character of a place through elegant, immersive instrumental storytelling.

The band is formed by five musicians. Niro plays strings, moving between guitars, violin, oud, and mandolin. Kokocho anchors the sound on bass and double bass. Blitz shapes time through percussion, from jazz brushes to global hand drums. Aura brings melody and air with saxophones, clarinets, and regional flutes. The Professor, on piano and other instruments, builds the harmonic structure that connects everything.
