from a warm distance (nikon d5000 HD short film)

Описание: This is my first YouTube upload. Watch in HD (edit: "HQ" I guess, since I didn't know what I was doing with the render settings at the time). I greatly encourage and will appreciate any criticism from fellow amateurs (who are hopefully better at this than me). I just bought a Nikon D5000 camera and have been playing around with it; trying to learn as much about it as possible. I shot this mostly on 12/24/09 (entirely with the 55-200mm telephoto lens) and spent my Christmas editing it. I realize that I didn't experiment with any camera movements and that I need to practice rack focusing more smoothly with this camera, but that wasn't the main point of this piece. A friend and I have been working on ideas for an animated short film as well as some for live action. I wanted to make a short "film" to see the quality of the video on DVD and projected onto a large screen. I'm impressed by how it looks, especially considering that I didn't really intend to use the camera for video when I bought it. I edited it with Windows Movie Maker. I've used Final Cut Pro II for class, but I really like the layout and some of the things that can be done with Windows Movie Maker as simple as it is. Please comment and criticize (be a little kind: this is my first upload). Note: I am in tears that I couldn't use "The Observer" by The Flaming Lips (the video was largely rhythmically edited with it), but I nonetheless think that the music I changed it to has a similar tone.
