A controlled blast on Monday is set to finish the demolition of the Licking River Bridge that connects Covington and Newport.
Crews closed the span as part of the project to replace it.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the controlled blast will take place at about 10 a.m.
Streets in the secured area are closed to vehicles, and anyone inside that area has to shelter in place until the demolition is over.
After that, work will begin on the new bridge, which is expected to open in the summer of 2028.
