The POE splitter also can regulate the power to DC12V output to supply the IP camera. The PoE is a safe method to transmit the power and data. There is a power handshake between the POE injector and the POE splitter. If you remove the PoE splitter and connect the cable to the camera, the POE injector will refuse to release the power.
