How Howard Brown Health Raised $19 Million For Medical Care in Chicago

Together, we helped build a strategy and strengthen fundraising systems, ultimately positioning Howard Brown to secure $19 million in philanthropic and public funding—including multiple seven-figure gifts.

Howard Brown Health is one of the nation’s largest LGBTQ+ organizations, providing affirming healthcare and advancing social justice for over 40,000 people across Chicago, Illinois. Rooted in LGBTQ+ liberation and community empowerment, their mission has made them a vital lifeline for individuals too often underserved by traditional systems.

CCS's Managing Director, Doug London, and Senior Vice President, Mary DeLay, worked closely with Katie Metos, Howard Brown's Vice President of External Relations. Reflecting on the partnership, London said, "The team is now ready to be successful in soliciting some of those five, six, even seven-figure gifts. We've seen that play out for them, and we've celebrated with them as they've had those wins."

Metos added, "We as an institution are doing a better job right now than we've ever done before in coming together to have a singular voice of the impact and value of this institution on Chicago and LGBTQ+ people nationally."
