MKE announced the measurement device for the die swell test for various polymer melt. This experiment shows the extrudate swell test as function of shear rate for eight LDPE's. Extrudate swell is a real elastic property of the viscoelastic polymer melt. This results can be used for the compatibility of the compounded materials, and many material researches.
Some LDPE grades have relatively high extrudate swell ratios despite their high fluidity.
