A record 111,000 people claimed asylum in the UK in the past year which is the highest on record, with 32,000 now living in taxpayer-funded hotels.
Since Labour took power, small boat crossings have soared past 50,000, and the number of hotels housing migrants has risen to 210, despite Sir Keir Starmer’s pledge to scrap the scheme.
More than half of all claims come from illegal arrivals, mainly via the Channel. Yet almost half are approved at the first stage, even as removals lag behind.
Critics say Labour has lost control of Britain’s borders, creating a migration crisis and breaking key promises. Councils across the country are now rebelling to shut migrant hotels after Epping won a High Court battle to kick asylum seekers out.
