Veg upma is a popular Indian breakfast recipe that is light, healthy, and filling. It is perfect for breakfast, tiffin box, or light dinner. Try this easy rava upma recipe at home and enjoy a delicious homemade meal.
Ingredients:
Ghee – 2 tbsp
Rava (Semolina) – 1 cup
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Urad dal – 1 tbsp
Chana dal – 1 tbsp
Curry leaves – 5–7
Peanuts – 1/2 bowl
Sweet corn – 1/2 bowl
Green peas – 1/2 bowl
Carrot – 1/2 cup (chopped or grated)
Finely chopped green chili – 1 tbsp
Chopped onion – 1/2 bowl
Chopped tomato – 1/4 cup
Salt – as per taste
Water – 3 cups
Fresh coriander – for garnish
Method:
Roast rava in 2 tbsp ghee for 3–4 minutes until aromatic and keep aside.
Heat ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, urad dal, and chana dal.
Add curry leaves, peanuts, green chili, and onion. Sauté until lightly golden.
Add carrot, sweet corn, green peas, and tomato. Mix well.
Pour 3 cups hot water and add salt to taste.
Let the water boil for 5 minutes.
Slowly add the roasted rava while stirring continuously.
Cook until the upma becomes soft, fluffy, and well cooked.
Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot.
